Is physical therapy right for me?
Physical Therapists (PT's) are highly educated, licensed medical professionals specializing in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. After taking a thorough medical history and extensive physical evaluation to determine the source of the problem, a PT will then develop a treatment plan. Treatment usually consists of some combination of patient education and self treatment techniques, exercise prescription, and possibly manual therapy techniques or other modalities to facilitate function and decrease pain. Physical therapists often work in conjunction with other medical professionals (i.e. general practitioners, orthopedists, neurologists, chiropractors, accupuncturists, etc.) to provide a team approach to treating patients.
PT's also provide wellness and injury prevention services.

How is ProBalance different from other physical therapy clinics?
At ProBalance, our goal is to provide the highest quality care possible. To achieve this, your session is one-on-one with a physical therapist during your entire visit. No aides or unlicensed personnel are used when treating physical therapy patients. Appointments start and end at the designated time…no waiting or wasting time.

ProBalance specializes in outpatient orthopedic conditions and in utilizing Pilates based exercise for treatment. Pilates is a unique progression of exercise which focuses on precise movements designed to encourage core strength, flexibililty, postural control, and proper movement sequencing. Since posture and muscle imbalances are often at the center of people's physical ailments, Pilates as a rehabilitation tool is a natural fit. See the Pilates section for more details.

Does ProBalance accept insurance?
We will directly bill for those with Veterans Administration Insurance and for some Auto Med-Pay cases. However, to maintain our high standard of care, we are not contracted with insurance providers and are therefore considered an out of network provider. Although we are an out of network provider, our physical therapy services may still be covered by your insurance. Payment is expected at the time of service, but upon request, we will provide you with a superbill which contains the codes required for reimbursement directly from your insurance. Note that it is your responsibility to understand the benefits and limitations of your insurance.

How much does a physical therapy session cost?
Since we aren't using resources to deal with insurance companies, we pass the savings of up to 35% off our full physical therapy fees and sometimes up to 50% off of what typical physical therapy clinics charge when payment is received at the time of service. Therefore, even though we are an out of network provider, your out of pocket costs may not be much different than if you saw an in network provider.

PT pricing varies depending on what services are performed. PT sessions typically cost about $100 per session when paid for at the time of service. We also offer discounted physical therapy prices and packages for those who choose not to bill to their insurance company or for those who chose to use their FlexSpend accounts. We accept cash, check, or credit card.

Do I need a prescription from a physician for physical therapy?
California is a direct access state which means that one can seek care from a physical therapist without obtaining a physician's referral. However, insurance companies usually require a physician's prescription for reimbursement to provide the diagnosis and to establish "medical necessity."

Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. As a courtesy to the practitioners and to patients who may be on a waiting list, it is requested that 24 hours notice be given prior to any changes to appointment times in order to avoid a $35 cancellation fee.
